Clanton competes in Gopher 50 at Deer Creek Speedway
Taking advantage of a World of Outlaws off-weekend, Shane Clanton joined the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series at Deer Creek Speedway (Spring Valley, Minn.) for the NAPA Auto Parts Gopher 50.
With 38 Late Models checked in, Clanton finished fourth in his heat race before taking a wild ride over the wall in his preliminary feature. He was 22nd in the rundown.
Hoping for a smoother night on Friday, Shane once again transferred to a preliminary feature with a fourth-place outing in his heat race. For another $5,000-to-win prelim, Clanton recorded a 14th-place run.
For Saturday's $50,000-to-win finale, Clanton was victorious in his B-Feature which earned him a spot in the 75-lap Gopher 50. Inching close to the Top-10 in the main event, Shane began to fade and pulled off on lap 61. He was scored 19th in the final rundown.
