Clanton collects Top-10 in Dirt Late Model Dream at Eldora Speedway
On Thursday afternoon, Shane Clanton unloaded his Skyline Motorsports No. 25 Late Model at Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) for the 29th running of the Dirt Late Model Dream weekend.
With the massive 95-car field split into two groups, Clanton raced his way into one of the 25-lap preliminary features with a heat race victory. Starting on the front row of the $12,000 prelim, Clanton lost two spots to finish just off the podium in fourth.
For another round of prelims on Friday, Shane started second in his heat race but fell back quickly and squeezed into the preliminary feature by grabbing the final transfer spot. Starting towards the back of the pack in his preliminary feature, Shane recorded a 15th-place outing.
Sitting on the pole of his heat race on Saturday, Clanton earned the 11th-place starting position in the feature after losing one spot in his heat. For the $129,000-to-win Dirt Late Model Dream, Clanton battled inside the Top-10 before the track took rubber and wound up 11th at the checkered flag.
Wrapping up an extended weekend on Monday at Kokomo Speedway (Kokomo, Ind.) with the XR Super Series, Shane finished sixth in his heat race before charging in his B-Main to pick up the victory. Rolling off 18th in the $100,000-to-win main event, Shane was an early retiree.
