Fifth-place finish in Show-Me 100 finale

With Mother Nature forcing officials to push the event back a day, Shane Clanton was one of 58 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) entries on hand at Lucas Oil Speedway (Wheatland, Mo.) on Friday afternoon for the Cowboy Classic. After coming one spot shy of a transfer position in his heat, Clanton grabbed the second-and-final transfer spot in his B-Main behind Mike Marlar. Locked into the sixth-starting position for the $6,000-to-win A-Main, Shane passed 10 cars in the 45-lapper to finish 14th.

Later Friday evening for the Tribute to Don & Billie Gibson, Shane clocked in third fastest in his group before picking up an eight-lap heat race victory. With $6,000 on the line in the feature, Clanton gained three spots in the 40-lap affair to finish second, trailing Josh Richards to the checkers. For the 29th annual Show-Me 100 presented by ProtectTheHarvest.com on Saturday night, Clanton locked into the fourth-starting position for the $30,000-to-win finale via preliminary results. After leading laps 5-12, Shane held onto a fifth-place finish in the 100-lapper, following Hudson O’Neal, Brandon Sheppard, Josh Richards, and Tim McCreadie across the line.

Shane is currently tied for sixth in the latest LOLMDS point standings.
