Clanton races to ninth-place finish in Diamond Nationals

With the first two events of the tripleheader weekend rained out, Shane Clanton made his lone start with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) on Saturday afternoon at Lucas Oil Speedway (Wheatland, Mo.) for the 15th annual CMH Diamond Nationals. In a field of 34 cars, Clanton secured his spot into the $15,000-to-win A-Main with a second-place finish in his heat race. Starting in seventh, Shane muscled into the top-five early and was running in third when was caught in a tangle on lap 28. He charged from the tail of the field to finish ninth. (Heath Lawson photo)

Shane climbed to seventh in the latest LOLMDS point standings.
