Clanton visits Florence for North/South weekend
Thursday night saw Shane Clanton return with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) at Florence Speedway (Union, Ky.) for the Sunoco North-South Shootout. In a field of 46 cars, Shane came in fifth in his heat race before picking up a 10-lap consolation victory. With $10,000 on the line in the preliminary feature, Clanton passed four cars in the 50-lap affair to finish 14th.

For a pair of heat races on Friday, Clanton followed up a seventh-place finish in his first round with a fourth-place finish in his second heat after sitting out a weather delay.
With passing points relegating him into the B-Main on Saturday, Shane posted a ninth-place finish, forcing him to rely on a provisional into the $50,000-to-win North/South 100. Starting in 23rd, Clanton improved five spots in the 100-lapper to record an 18th-place outing.
Shane remains in ninth in the latest LOLMDS point standings.
