Clanton competes with LOLMDS over Labor Day weekend
To kick off his Labor Day weekend with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS), Shane Clanton invaded Portsmouth Raceway Park (Portsmouth, Ohio) on Saturday afternoon for the sanctioned Pepsi River Days Rumble 50. In a field of 29 cars, Shane recorded a third-place finish in his heat, which positioned him 10th on the starting grid for the opening night feature. With $15,000 on the line, Clanton was an early retiree from the 50-lapper on lap 15.
After Sunday’s Hillbilly 100 at Tyler County Speedway (Middlebourne, W.V.) rained out, Clanton headed to Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) for the Baltes Classic. Drawing 33 Sunoco American Late Model Series (ALMS) entries, Clanton’s second-place finish in his heat race placed him seventh on the starting grid for the $5,000-to-win A-Main. Running trouble early in the 30-lap affair, Shane was an early retiree on the 10th circuit.
Shane climbed to eighth in the latest LOLMDS point standings.
