Shane Clanton
Second-place finish in Stream Invitational at Eldora
Shane Clanton was one of 48 Late Models invited to Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) on Thursday afternoon for the Dirt Late Model Stream Invitational. Following the seventh fastest time in his qualifying group, Clanton stormed to a 10-lap heat race victory, which positioned him third on the starting grid for the $10,000-to-win preliminary feature. After polesitter Kyle Strickler jumped out to a commanding lead early, Shane began closing the distance on Strickler late in the lapped-traffic but was unable to take over the top spot, marking him second on the rundown behind Strickler with Brandon Sheppard, Ricky Thornton Jr., Bobby Pierce rounding out the Top-5. The following night for another $10,000-to-win preliminary feature, Shane held his spot for all 10-laps of his heat race to place seventh. Transferring into the B-Main for another shot at the A-Main, Clanton fell short of a transfer position with a seventh place outing.
On Saturday evening with preliminary points determining the starting grid for heat races, Clanton rolled off fourth in his heat race. Sending the Top 4 into the $50,000-to-win Dirt Late Model Stream Invitational, Shane got collected with another competitor in turn four on the first lap that forced him pit-side. With severe damage to his nose, Clanton elected to sit out the remainder of the evening.
