Shane Clanton passes nine cars in Silver Dollar Nationals at I-80
Shane Clanton made the trek to I-80 Speedway (Greenwood, Neb.) on Thursday afternoon to take part in the Imperial Tile Silver Dollar Nationals weekend. Drawing 46 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) entries for the Dirt Track Bank Go 50, Shane ran into trouble early in his heat race, forcing him to pull out his secondary car for his B-Main. Charging from the tail of the field to place sixth, Clanton was granted a provisional into the opening night feature. Rolling off 24th, Shane Clanton advanced through the field seven spots to register a 17th place outing.
On Friday night competing in a pair of heat races, Clanton followed up an eighth place finish in his first heat with a second place finish behind Ricky Weiss in round two. Sitting in 24th overall in passing points, Shane rolled off third in his B-Main on Saturday for another shot at the $53,000-to-win Imperial Tile Silver Dollar Nationals. (Todd Boyd photo)
Transferring the Top 4 into the finale, Shane posted a third place finish, which positioned him 24th on the starting grid for the main event. Passing nine cars in the 101-lap affair, Clanton logged a 15th place finish.
Shane is currently eighth in the latest LOLMDS point standings.
