Pair of Top-10 finishes in Topless 100 prelims

Thursday night saw Shane Clanton return with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) at Batesville Motor Speedway (Batesville, Ark.) for the 28th annual Comp Cams Topless 100 weekend. In a stout field of 48 cars, Shane secured his spot into the $5,000-to-win preliminary feature with a second place finish in his heat behind Brandon Overton. For another $5,000-to-win preliminary feature on Friday night, Clanton jumped up two spots in his heat race to place second behind Jonathan Davenport. Earning the 11th-starting position for the show, Shane passed two cars in the 30-lapper to come home ninth.

With preliminary results from Thursday and Friday setting the grid for Saturday night’s main event, Shane sat in seventh overall in preliminary points, which positioned him on the fourth row for the Comp Cams Topless 100. With $40,000 on the line, Clanton was forced pitside on lap 63 while running in sixth with a deflating right-rear tire. Rejoining the field from the tail, Shane Clanton salvaged a 17th place outing in the 100-lap affair.

Shane sits in sixth in the latest LOLMDS point standings.
