Clanton attends DTWC at Portsmouth

Shane Clanton invaded Portsmouth Raceway Park (Portsmouth, Ohio) on Friday night to wrap up the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) with the 40th annual General Tire Dirt Track World Championship. Drawing a stout field of 63 cars, Clanton timed in second fastest in his qualifying group before pulling off early on lap 12 of his heat with what he thought was a flat tire until a visit to the infield proved otherwise.

With a provisional already secured into the $100,000-to-win Dirt Track World Championship on Saturday, Shane ran two laps of his consolation event before retiring early. Starting the final in 26th, Clanton marched forward 12 spots in the 100-lap affair to register a 14th place outing. (Heath Lawson photo)

Shane finished sixth in the final LOLMDS point standings.
