Sixth-place finish in Cotton Pickin' 100 prelim

Friday night found Shane Clanton in action at Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Miss.) for the Cotton Pickin’ 100 weekend. Drawing 34 Late Models for the two-day event, Shane came in fifth fastest in his time trial group before placing third in his heat. With $4,000 on the line in the feature, Clanton clawed forward three spots in the 30-lap affair to register a sixth-place finish. (Robert Holman photo | DirtonDirt.com)

On Saturday afternoon, Clanton followed up the second fastest time in his qualifying group with a runner-up finish in his heat behind Morgan Bagley. Starting the $12,000-to-win A-Main in seventh, Shane was the first retiree from the 70-lapper on the sixth lap.
