1February 17, 2018 - Shane Clanton was back in action on Monday night at Volusia Speedway Park (Barberville, Florida) kicking off the UMP DIRTcar Nationals. In a field of 40 Super Late Models, Clanton followed up the fastest time overall in his group with a heat race victory. Earning the 4th-starting position for the feature, Shane jumped up one spot notching a 3rd place finish behind Jonathan Davenport and Chris Madden with Scott Bloomquist and Mike Marlar completing the Top-5 finishers. 1After Tuesday’s program was wiped out by Mother Nature, Clanton was one of 51 cars signed in on Wednesday for the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series season opener. Improving one spot in his heat, Clanton landed a runner-up finish behind Chris Madden locking him into the 8th-starting position for the $10,000-to-win A-Main. With heavy fog rolling in by the midpoint of the feature, Shane was running in 9th when officials deemed the race over with on lap-26 with very limited vision.

1On Thursday night, Clanton passed five cars in his heat race to place 2nd behind Scott Bloomquist. Rolling off 6th for the feature, Shane improved two positions reeling in a 4th place finish behind Dale McDowell, Brandon Sheppard, and Jonathan Davenport with Scott Bloomquist coming in 5th.

Friday evening in a field of 46 cars, Clanton secured his spot into the feature with a 2nd place finish in his heat behind David Breazeale. Starting in 8th, Shane fell four spots to place 12th.

1Wrapping up the 47th annual DIRTcar Nationals on Saturday, Shane slipped back to a 10th place finish in his heat transferring him into the B-Main. Failing to place in the Top 3, Clanton was granted a provisional into the $10,000-to-win finale. Starting in 23rd, Shane Clanton advanced through the field 12 spots registering an 11th place finish.

1February 3, 2018 - Bringing the 2018 season to life, Shane Clanton traveled to Golden Isles Speedway (Brunswick, Georgia) on Friday night for the Rhino Ag Super Bowl of Racing. With 41 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) entries on hand for the two-day event, Clanton secured his spot into the opening night $10,000-to-win feature with a 2nd place finish in his heat behind Jonathan Davenport. 1On Saturday night Shane was able to complete two laps in qualifying but failed to make it out for his heat race and consolation event.
