Thirty-nine Super Late Models took part in the program, and after posting the fifth quickest time in his group during qualifying, Shane on to finish second in the heat. After drawing the third starting spot for the 50 lap main event, Clanton had moved into the second spot by lap five and took over the lead from Darrell Lanigan just two circuits later. As the field neared the halfway mark home state driver Billy Moyer took over the top spot on lap 19 as Clanton slipped back to third.

The Zebulon, Georgia ace survived several caution periods and one red flag to hold on for a solid third place finish behind race winner Billy Moyer and Darrell Lanigan.
