1September 27th, 2014 - After a much needed week away from the track, Shane made a triumphant return to competition over the weekend in the annual Alabama State Championships at East Alabama Motor Speedway (Phenix City, Alabama). (Eric Gano Photo)

Thirty-nine competitors registered for Saturday's opening round, which was sanctioned by the Southern All Star (SAS) Racing Series. Clanton earned the third starting spot in the $4,000-to-win feature via qualifications. He trailed race-long leader, Ray Cook until contact with a lapped car gave Shane the opportunity he needed to seize the top spot. With Cook out of contention, Clanton went un-challenged for the remainder of the event for his third victory of the season over Mack McCarter, Clint Smith, Riley Hickman and Tom Maddox.

The finale for the Alabama State Championships was contested on Sunday afternoon, which was again sanctioned by the SAS Racing Series and boosted a $4,000 winner's check. Shane posted the fastest lap in his respective group during time trials before going on to register a fourth place finish in the main event behind race winner, Randy Weaver, Riley Hickman and Chris Madden. Chris Wilson completed the top five finishers.

1September 13th, 2014 - It was back to business with the World of Outlaws (WoO) Late Model Series over the weekend. Shane enjoyed an exceptional outing as the tour invaded Berlin Raceway (Marne, Michigan) for the 3rd Annual Keyser Manufacturing Down 'N Dirty weekend. The 7/16 mile oval, which typically operates as a paved oval, was covered in dirt for the event.

Friday night's program was nixed by rain, setting the stage for a $15,000-to-win finale on Saturday night. Thirty-three Super Late Models registered for the event, and Shane started the night by qualifying third fastest in Group B of time trials. He went on to finish second in his heat race, locking him into the eighth starting spot for the 65 lap finale. In the main event, Clanton advanced to a third place finish behind race winner, Darrell Lanigan and Tim McCreadie. Rick Eckert and Scott Bloomquist rounded out the top five finishers.

Shane is seventh in the latest WoO standings. Full results and the latest series' standings are available at www.WoOLMS.com

Festivities began on Thursday night with 117 cars in the pit area as the field was divided into a pair of $5,000-to-win events. Shane earned the second starting spot for his heat race via qualifications, and went on to race to a second place finish to lock into the 25 lap, preliminary feature in the eighth starting spot. Clanton raced around the top ten for much of the event before slipping to an eleventh place finish in the final rundown.

Friday's program again found the field divided into a pair of $5,000-to-win races, and after qualifying 30th quickest in time trials he started second in his heat race before racing to a third place finish, which positioned him starting fifteenth in the 25 lap main event. Shane went on to take the checkered flag in the seventeenth position.

The weekend drew to a close on Saturday evening with the final night of the crown jewel. With heat race line-ups being determined by a driver's performance on the preliminary nights Shane started fourth in his heat race and finished fourth, sending him to a b-main. Clanton went on to finish fourth in the b-main, but only the top three finishers advanced to the 100 lap, $47,000-to-win finale, bringing his weekend to an early end.
